Am Yisrael Chai

On Monday, February 25, over 2,500 people in Toronto came out to the “Rally for Sderot” and a live satellite hookup to the people in Sderot — who gathered at 3 a.m. Israeli time in their community center and listened a remarkable speech by Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz (the video is here and here), who will be traveling to Sderot in three weeks, together with Irwin Cutler) whose own extraordinary speech is worth re-reading at this time.

The Toronto-Sderot two-way exchange was filmed by American documentary filmmaker Laura Bialis, who is living in Sderot.  She emailed her father in the United States about it (posted here with permission):

The event was amazing! It was a live feed that went back and forth from Toronto to Sderot — many people from Sderot spoke, my choir performed, and Alan Dershowitz spoke — very strong!!!!! I got emotional because the people in Canada were talking about how the people of Sderot are protecting Israel’s borders by just staying here . . . and I feel so proud to be one of them!

Last night in Los Angeles, another 2,000 people turned out for “Live for Sderot.”  The crowd was addressed by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and heard an invocation by Rabbi David Wolpe. They are both worth listening to:  click on the links to watch them.
