Our Fellow Americans

 Our Fellow Americans

Photographer Thorney Lieberman, who previously prepared a large-scale photographic document of American Indians at the turn of the millennium, has created a stunning montage of America’s coal miners, through a process shown in the five-minute video below – part of a project to put a human face on the energy issue by creating a collection of life-size photographs suitable for museum exhibition.

If you watch the video, you will undoubtedly agree that Lieberman “surpasses the depth of intimacy and detail available in extant photographic portraiture” and has created a work of honor and beauty — one that captures the contribution to the rest of us of the people who go down in the mines every day on our behalf.
