The New Criterion and London’s Social Affairs Unit held a symposium on “Threats to Democracy: Then and Now” on October 21, 2005 at the Union League Club in New York City.
There were 15 participants, including Roger Kimball and Mark Steyn. The discussion revolved largely around essays by Steyn and Kimball that have now been printed (along with the essays of some of the other participants) in the new issue of The New Criterion.
The essays are long but worth reading in their entirety: “It’s the Demography, Stupid,” by Steyn, and “After the Suicide of the West” by Kimball.
