Trying Diplomacy First

 Trying Diplomacy First

From the latest Rasmussen poll (a national telephone survey) regarding the situation in
Gaza
:

Sixty-two percent (62%) of Republicans back
Israel
’s decision to take military action against the Palestinians, but only half as many Democrats (31%) agree.  A majority of Democrats (55%) say
Israel
should have tried to find a diplomatic solution first
, a view shared by just 27% of Republicans.

While 75% of Republicans say
Israel
is an ally of the
United States
, just 55% of Democrats agree.  Seven percent (7%) of Democrats say
Israel
is an enemy of
America
, but only one percent (1%) of Republicans say the same.

When you have dismantled every settlement in Gaza, withdrawn every IDF soldier, removed all 8,000 “obstacles to peace,” and turned over all of Gaza so the Palestinians can demonstrate their willingness to live “side by side in peace and security” — and the rockets increase, and continue year after year, and the prior “ceasefire” turns out to be simply a reduction in the number of rockets fired, while supplies are replenished with rockets with greater range, and the “ceasefire” is then not “renewed” despite Israeli willingness to continue it, and hundreds of rockets are sent into Israel in the space of a week, I think one can safely say the “diplomatic solution” was tried first.
