What Happens in Thousands of Israeli Homes, Every Night

The video above is the first portion of the answer that Daniel Gordis gave to David Wolpe last week at Sinai Temple, in the dialogue that followed Gordis’s compelling presentation on “The Year 2048:  Can Israel Survive to the Age of 100?”

The question asked how Gordis had moved progressively from the Left toward the Right after he moved from Los Angeles to Israel in 1998, at the height of the Oslo process.  Gordis began by remarking that he is probably the only person who can say that he voted for Jesse Jackson and then Ariel Sharon (and then Ehud Olmert, to his regret).

The video picks up the balance of the answer (until the JCI battery went out).  The answer is at first funny, then turns reflective, and then — near the end (starting with “I want to tell you something about why people turn to the right”) — recounts a remarkable anecdote, about what happens “every night, in thousands of Israeli homes, every night.”

Do not skip this.
